Programs
MassBioEd’s programs and services are designed for success. We have a strategy for growth that enables us to focus on underserved communities and go deeper with individual school districts, expand career awareness activities, and create specific apprenticeship programs as alternatives to traditional education paths.
Our goal is to build a sustainable life sciences workforce that focuses on all parts of the workforce: the emerging workforce of K-12 students, the imminent workforce of college students and adults; and the incumbent workforce of current employees. The cornerstones of our work — BioTeach and BioTalent — are inter-connected programs that ignite student interest and cultivate a field of diverse experts committed to solving some of the world’s most vexing challenges. The need to educate the next generation, illuminate the myriad of career opportunities to underserved communities, and bring in new skilled workers is more important than ever.
BioTeach engages educators and inspires students, which is key to fostering science literacy. It is here that the foundation is laid for an emerging workforce. With our focus on high-need, underserved schools, we introduce the possibilities of life sciences careers at an early age. MassBioEd has been recognized as a leader in teacher training, working with teachers to bring lab-centered life sciences curriculum into the classroom and students’ hands.
BioTalent illuminates the many pathways into life sciences careers. Apprenticeships offer alternative training that opens doors, particularly for historically underrepresented populations. The Career Hub focuses on training opportunities and career services, offering workshops, career fairs, accessible resources, and career coaching to help access employment in the life sciences. Our events bring together corporate professionals and college and university faculty to discuss best practices for training the next generation of leaders. MassBioEd offers professional training courses designed by industry experts to build critical technical and soft skills in the incumbent workforce for continued success.
