Henri. A. Termeer Educator Award
In celebration of Henri A. Termeer’s commitment to scientific discovery and mentorship of aspiring and accomplished scientists, the MassBioEd Henri A. Termeer Biotechnology and Life Science Educator Grant recognizes dedicated life sciences teachers from Massachusetts schools who mentor their students in answering and more importantly, asking rich questions in the spirit of scientific excellence.
With the intent to celebrate educators who launch and expand biotechnology and life sciences curricula in their high-school classrooms, the Termeer Educator Grant provides a teacher with the opportunity to enrich their own learning and educational craft with a $2,500 grant to be used toward professional development or continuing education in life science-related fields and equipment or reagents needed for innovative life sciences curricula. Additionally, the awarded candidate will have the opportunity to share and present the impacts of their enrichment to the MassBioEd Selection Committee upon completion of the grant-funded work.
You may nominate yourself or a colleague by filling out the application and submitting a 500-word essay that describes the nominee’s success in transforming life sciences learning through a culture of discovery and the incorporation of authentic science activities. Share any details regarding student impact and how the nominee hopes to further innovate and enrich life sciences curriculum. You also have the option to submit a reference.
Closing date for all nominations is June 30, 2022. The winning applicant will be honored at the Champions for Biotechnology Award Ceremony during the evening of Thursday, October 27th, 2021.
