A note to the HR teams doing the most with the least

Quick Summary

If you’re an HR team of one (or one of a few) at a small biotech or life sciences company, you’re likely juggling employee development goals with real budget and time constraints. This post is for you. We’ll share how MassBioEd supports small biotech HR teams with professional training options – including open-enrollment and single-company offerings – and white-glove support through the Massachusetts Workforce Training Fund Program Express Program to make training more accessible and manageable.

TL;DR (Too Long, Didn’t Read)

  • You don’t need a formal L&D department to offer meaningful professional development
  • Small biotech HR teams can access biotech-specific training built for lean teams
  • We offer both open-enrollment courses and single-company training
  • Many courses are eligible for 50–100% reimbursement through the Massachusetts Workforce Training Fund Program Express Program
  • We provide hands-on, white-glove support throughout the reimbursement process

For the HR Teams Wearing All the Hats

If you work in HR at a small biotech or life sciences company, this may sound familiar:

You’re responsible for recruiting, onboarding, compliance, employee relations, culture – and, increasingly, professional development. You care deeply about employee growth and retention, but there’s no dedicated L&D department, limited (or nonexistent) training budget, and very little time to research providers or navigate funding programs.

Employees ask about development. Managers flag skill gaps. Leadership wants to retain talent.

You want to do right by your people – thoughtfully, responsibly, and without creating more work for yourself.

That’s where we come in.

Reimbursable Training – Without the Headache

Workforce funding programs can feel intimidating or unclear, especially if you’ve never applied before or don’t have time to figure it out alone.

That’s why we offer white-glove, one-on-one support throughout the reimbursement process for MA-based companies.

Training That Fits Your Reality (Not an Enterprise Fantasy)

We’re intentional about who our programs are built for.

Our courses are:

  • Designed for small and growing biotech companies
  • Led by industry practitioners, not generic trainers
  • Structured to minimize coordination and administrative lift
  • Flexible enough to support both individual learners and whole teams

We avoid enterprise-level assumptions – large budgets, complex systems, or dedicated L&D staff – because that’s not the reality for most HR teams we work with.

This Is a Conversation, Not a Sales Pitch

You don’t need a fully formed training plan to reach out.
You don’t need to know exactly which course is right.
And you don’t need to be ready to “buy” anything.

Sometimes the most helpful first step is simply a conversation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do we need a dedicated L&D budget to work with MassBioEd?

Are your courses biotech-specific?

Yes. Our programs are designed specifically for the life sciences industry and led by instructors with real-world biotech experience.
