Part-Time, Contract “Science of Biotech 101” Course Instructor
Overview:
The Science of Biotech 101 Course Instructor serves as an independent contractor to teach the fully-developed course.
Commitment and Format:
- Course is offered an estimated several times per year with the potential for additional offerings.
- Virtual Format: Three (3) 2.5-hour sessions with 10-minute break during each session (7 hours).
- In-Person Format: One (1) business day with 30-minute break for lunch and two (2) 15-minute breaks (7 hours).
Responsibilities:
- Instruct hands-on activities relevant to the biotechnology industry and prepare lectures according to course material developed by the MassBioEd Director of Biotechnology Education Programs.
- Work with the MassBioEd Director of Biotechnology Education Program to teach developed content and oversee continuity of classes.
- Assist Director of Biotechnology Education Programs with updating the syllabus and agenda before each session as needed.
- Provide MassBioEd course coordinator with all up-to-date materials at least 14 days before the start of class.
- If needed, attend meetings at MassBioEd, as required to address current issues, not to exceed two hours per session.
- Provide students with appropriate feedback on in-class assignments and presentations
- Promote and market the course. Encourage enrollment in the course consistent with MassBioEd’s interest in offering and promoting the course.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in cell or molecular biology, pharmacology of biotechnology.
- 5+ years of classroom teaching experience.
- Experience at a biotechnology or biopharmaceutical firm, preferred.
