Letter from MassBioEd Board of Directors on Departure of Executive Director

Nov 06, 2018

Dear MassBioEd Partners and Friends,

We write today to advise you that MassBioEd’s Executive Director, Peter Abair, will be leaving our organization to become the new executive director of MassEcon. Over the past three and a half years, Pete has been instrumental in working with MassBioEd’s many partners in industry, education, and workforce development in building a talented regional workforce to sustain our world-class life sciences industry. Under Peter’s leadership, MassBioEd has become the leading repository for information on hiring trends in the life sciences, established the annual Life Sciences Workforce Conference and Champions for Biotechnology Education Awards Reception, and sustained BioTeach as the preeminent program in the region providing lab-based training for high school teachers in biotechnology.

The MassBioEd Board of Directors has engaged Koya Leadership Partners to conduct the search for a new executive director. As the search process is pursued, the Board has great confidence in the incredible MassBioEd team in continuing the organization’s full range of education, workforce and corporate professional development programs. A new executive director is expected to join MassBioEd in early 2019.

We wish Peter the best in his new position and thank him for his time at MassBioEd. As a Board of Directors, we are proud of the organization’s recent achievements, cognizant of the many challenges and opportunities ahead in engaging teachers, inspiring and propelling students and illuminating the pathway from the classroom to careers in the life sciences. The Foundation is delivering on its mission and our Board is working closely with Peter and the MassBioEd team to maintain momentum and ensure a seamless transition.  We are especially grateful for your continued encouragement, support, and partnership.

With best regards,
