MassBioEd Announces SPOT Grant Program for 2015/2016 Academic Year

Sep 15, 2015

MassBioEd, through support of the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center and Fisher Scientific, has created a new equipment grant program for the 2015/2016 academic year. This program will provide teachers with a one-time grant of up to $3,500 to be used to bring new labs and lab activities to their students during the 2015/2016 academic year. These funds must be used for equipment or lab consumables to support life sciences related laboratory activities.

Applications for the SPOT grant program will be accepted on a rolling basis beginning on October 15th. We expect funds to be available through April, 2016.

To successfully compete for a SPOT grant an applicant must submit a proposal to purchase equipment and reagents to be used to implement a specific life sciences related laboratory or activity that provides their students with an authentic, hands-on science experience. The lab or activity should be new to your students and, to the extent possible, highlight biotechnology tools and techniques.
