Life Sciences Workforce Conference

MassBioEd’s 2023 Life Sciences Workforce Conference
Unlocking Talent in the Life Sciences

Connections | Opportunity | Equity

MAY 31, 2023 | 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM
UMass Boston Campus Center

The needs of the life sciences labor market continue to grow and demand for a strong workforce continues.  Even with ongoing changes in the industry’s ecosystem, the life sciences will remain a leading employer and economic driver in Massachusetts.

Building off the most current labor market information presented in MassBioEd’s Employment Outlook report, this annual conference brings together industry, academic institutions, training providers, and community leaders to explore the issues we face in developing and accessing talent to fill our current and future workforce needs. How can we align the training and curriculum at higher education institutions with the needs of the life science industry? What skills or credentials are necessary pre-hiring?  How can we use this knowledge to inform program offerings or curricula? How have we expanded the approach to include alternative training programs? Can we change hiring and recruitment practices? How do public policies impact a robust life sciences workforce? What will the workforce look like in 2033?

2023 ‘s conference was held at UMass Boston. Nearly 400 people attended and it featured panels with leaders from the industry, public policy sessions, time for Q&A, and for the first time an Industry-Educator Advisory session where companies and educators had the opportunity to meet one-on-one for deeper conversations on workforce needs and training possibilities.
