Explore the Central Dogma with BioBits

Note* MassBioEd is offering a series of remote workshops that can be used to earn PDPs. Teachers participating in 10 hours of training can earn 10 PDPs. All workshops can be found on our events pageThis workshop with associated homework qualifies for 4 hours towards PDPs.

Important! You must register by October 30th to ensure enough time to ship the materials to you!

Using BioBits from miniPCR, participants will visualize the flow of genetic information and monitor transcription and translation in real-time through fluorescent readouts. Because the lab uses cutting-edge cell-free technology, minimal equipment is required and the protocol is quick and straightforward - a very webcam-friendly lab that is perfect for remotely demonstrating the central dogma of molecular biology. Participants will receive all the materials and reagents needed to complete the lab during the workshop and enough to repeat the experiment as a remote demo for their students.
