MassBioEd Career Ambassadors - Request Form
Looking for a Career Ambassador to speak with your students? Submit a registration below.
Please Note: All Career Ambassador Events will be virtual for the 2020-21 academic year.
MassBioEd’s Career Ambassadors Program expands upon our existing student programing to offer more opportunities for students to learn about careers in the life sciences. Through this program, industry volunteers share their experiences in the life sciences and their passion for the work they do. Currently, Career Ambassadors are available for virtual career awareness events. Some Ambassadors focus on the science topics that drive their work and research, while other Ambassadors will focus on careers in the life sciences as it relates to your students.
How do Career Ambassador events work?
We will work with the school/organization host and volunteer to help ensure the best possible experience for student and volunteer alike. The goal of each engagement is for Career Ambassadors to share their industry knowledge and experiences with students well prepared to learn from the Ambassador.
Before a Career Ambassador visits the school, students in the host class will:
- Watch a short Introduction to Life Sciences video produced by MassBioEd and/or complete a short assignment related to ambassador’s area of work.
- Read the speaker’s biography and complete a pre-event worksheet
A Career Ambassador will:
- Provide a brief presentation on what they do in the field, for what organization, and how that organization aspires to positively impact lives,
- Discuss the life sciences in general and share their own experiences within the field,
- Reflect on their personal journey and how they got to where they are today,
- Relay career information to students about the field (provided by MassBioEd),
- Allow ample time for questions from students,
- Provide a demonstration or activity.
The BioTalent team will work with volunteers to prepare them for a school visit.
