Basic Microbiology Laboratory Skills (Burlington)

**NEW** Growing bacteria is easy, but growing only the bacteria you want can be a challenge in most high school labs. In this workshop, praticipants will practice the bacterial culturing techniques needed for many of the labs. Participants will practice handwashing and pipetting techniques with fluorescent indicators, prepare liquid and solid growth media without an autoclave, learn tricks for quickly and easily making a wide variety of different media, and explore antibiotic resistance and growth inhibition of different bacterial strains.

Participants will receive student lab protocols, teacher instruction manuals, and curricular support resources to implement these labs in the classroom. This workshop qualifies for 10 PDPs based upon completion of the designated assessments.
