In this 2-hour workshop, participants will learn how to implement a low-cost human genetics or forensics lab with students. This lab analyzes a single Variable Number of Tandem Repeat (VNTR) locus known as D1S80 in several different subjects. Participants will use agarose gel electrophoresis to separate PCR products and compare the bands on the gel to a DNA ladder in order to determine each subject's genotype.

PDP’s will not be provided for this workshop. Participants can request a certificate of completion.

Note our New incentive programSchools can earn $200 to spend at Fisher Scientific for participation in two or more BioTeach workshop. Incentives begin with the second workshop attended. Details of the incentive program will be sent to anyone registering for a BioTeach workshop.
