Description

Transitioning to Leader provides participants with a clear understanding of the leader-manager they aim to be and the essential skills and strategies to get them there. Approaches to effective communication and how to foster collaboration among teams (both remotely and in person) are discussed. Learn effective delegation tools to get more accomplished through direct reports. Participants will also learn the fundamentals for interviewing, hiring, and more.

Instructors

Matt Mirisola
Human Resources Consultant
 
Matt has served as a leadership coach and consultant for over 20 years, providing training to professionals at biotech and pharmaceutical companies. His expertise is in leadership development and coaching, management and employee training, and teambuilding facilitation. Most recently, Matt served as Associate Director of Training and Development at Genetics Institute, where he was responsible for developing and delivering training seminars on a variety of topics, facilitating teambuilding and problem-solving meetings, and employee coaching and development. Previously, he worked alongside human resources leaders at General Electric. He began his career as a Military Intelligence Officer for the United States Army. Matt earned his Master of Public Policy & Management degree in Organizational Behavior at Yale School of Management and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and Behavioral Sciences from the United States Military Academy at West Point.
 
Dr. Ian Turnipseed
Executive Communications Coach at Speech Improvement Company
Dr. Ian Turnipseed is a seasoned, experienced Executive Communication Coach and trainer with The Speech Improvement Company, Inc. He has been involved in Communication for the past 25 years as a speaker, presenter, coach, trainer, and researcher. He holds multiple degrees in communication and travels the globe working with leaders of countries, companies, and people from all walks of life, helping them become more comfortable and effective when they communicate. He works with clients primarily in life sciences, technology, finance, and venture capital.

Ian is skilled in establishing clear and attainable goals with his one-on-one coaching and maintains an equally sharp focus on actionable results in group training sessions. Topics in which Ian brings added expertise to The Speech Improvement Company include leadership, connecting with your listeners, executive communication, and more.

His years of coaching allow him to deliver those solutions as actionable results. He has done this as an invited presenter at communication conferences, at countless speaking engagements around the country, and privately for hundreds of individuals.
