I've Got That Sinking Feeling: Investigating Enzymes

Most chemical reactions in a cell require special molecules (almost always proteins), called enzymes. Enzymes work by binding substrates (reactants) in specific orientations that make them most likely to react, so the reaction rate is much faster that it would otherwise be. In this lab, you will examine the effect of catalase concentration on the rate of hydrogen peroxide breakdown.
