Investigating Photosynthesis with Algae Balls

It is estimated that marine plants, such as algae produce between 70 and 80 percent of the oxygen in the atmosphere.  These tiny cells are a vital component of the global carbon cycle. This lab uses large numbers of algal cells trapped in jelly like balls of of sodium alginate to explore photosynthesis.
