Champions for Biotechnology Education Award Applications
The Champions for Biotechnology Education Awards Gala celebrates outstanding advocacy for, and contributions to, life sciences education in Massachusetts. Each year, MassBioEd honors an organization, an educator, and a school for their commitment to fostering science literacy and advancing life sciences education. We also award a student with a scholarship to be used towards their life sciences field of study. The Educator Award and Student Scholarship Award are supported by the Henri A. Termeer Foundation in honor of Henri A. Termeer and his commitment to scientific discovery and mentorship of aspiring and accomplished scientists. The Joshua Boger Innovative School of the Year Award is supported by the Joshua Boger Family Foundation and named after Joshua Boger to recognize his sustained commitment to excellence in science education.

Champion Organization | MassBioEd Champion for Biotechnology Education Award recognizes a company for its commitment to access and advancement in STEM education within Massachusetts. The company must demonstrate a focus of STEM/lie sciences education as part of their corporate philanthropic philosophy and be actively engaged in the communities in which it operates. Companies can be nominated here.
Champion School | Joshua Boger Innovative School of the Year Award recognizes a New England high school that distinguishes itself through exemplary school-wide educational programming in the life sciences. The award was named in honor of Joshua Boger, Ph.D. to recognize his sustained commitment to excellence in science education. The Boger Family Foundation awards the school with $5,000 to be used for equipment and supplies to support the life sciences. Schools can apply here.
Champion Teacher | Henri A. Termeer Educator Grant Award recognizes dedicated life sciences teachers from Massachusetts schools who mentor their students in answering and more importantly, asking rich questions in the spirit of scientific excellence. With the intent to celebrate educators who launch and expand biotechnology and life sciences curricula in their high-school classrooms, the Termeer Educator Grant provides a teacher with the opportunity to enrich their own learning and educational craft with a$2,500 grant to be used toward professional development or continuing education in life science-related fields and equipment or reagents needed for innovative life sciences curricula. Champion Student | Henri A. Termeer Student Scholarship Award recognizes one outstanding student who plans to enroll in an eligible 2- or 4-year life sciences undergraduate program as described below. Candidates for this award must possess an academic record marked by a commitment to excellence and a demonstrated interest in the life sciences and biotechnology, with aspirations for a future career in the life sciences.
