Science Career Seminar in Hyde Park

Gregory Simpson, Ph.D.

September 25th @ 7:54pm

I recently had the opportunity to give a science career seminar to high school seniors at the Social Justice Academy in Hyde Park.

The students were, by and large very engaged during the discussions and at the end, three of them wanted to know about opportunities to intern in the field of biotech.

There maybe an opportunity to expand MBE's out-reach in that community. If the organization hasn't already done so.

Next month I'll be in New York City and Atlanta, delivering seminars at schools there. I'm looking forward to observing the level of interest generated between these three student populations.

Dr. Simpson, it is great to hear about the seminar you gave to the students at Social Justice Academy. It is always great when students learn about opportunnities to pursue careers in science.

The BioTeach program is currently in two other high schools in Hyde Park: Community Academy of Science and Health and The Engineering School.

If any of the students at your seminars are interested in finding out more about science careers, a great resource for them would be our website! Our students page http://www.massbioed.org/students/ contains some very useful information for them. Thanks again, Dr. Simpson, for helping spread the message to students about the value of a career in science!
